Mission 11: Revelations

Drop down to the courtyard and watch your next lot of enemies appear (who didn't see that coming?). A new type of enemy will greet you here, The dark monks are generally pretty poor at melee (their projectiles on the other hand can be very difficult to dodge). So get up in their faces as fast as you can and just pound away.

The quicker you take one down, the lower the chance that they can summon regular creatures, or even worse a Dark Apostle. The apostle will probably remind you of the dragon from the Toymaker's play. It hase flame breath and can perform an AoE attack. The main difference is that the AoE is a sphere instead of a wave. Not too difficult to beat, but it prolongs the fight and deals damage to you. So try to prevent it if possible.

Once the way is clear, head to the other end and use the levers to open the portculis. Once inside you will see the third acolyte, but after a brief cut-scene you will be back in your castle. Complete the mirror repair mini game again to open the door. Cross the impressive walkway until you reach a very well furnished room.

Once the interactive cutscenes are over (you have no health bar so you cannot lose), you will know what really happened and who your companion is.

Looks like we have two massive enemies to crush now that the truth is out. Time to beat up Patrick Stewart… er I mean Zobek. Zobeck will reveal his true form as he confronts you.

Boss: Zobek / Death

Attacks

Whirlwind Slash:  He will lift his scythe up a bit, then spin and slash twice in a circle, getting wider as it slashes.  Dodge away to avoid.

Scythe Throw:  He will hold the end of his scythe out to the side and an unblockable symbol will appear.  Then he will half-heartedly throw the scythe in your direction.  It wont hurt when he retracts it.  Run around it or dodge to avoid.

Scythe Launch:  He will hold the body of the scythe higher, and an unblockable symbol will appear.  He will then slash the scythe up and throw it into the air, and catch it.  The catching wont hurt you.  Dodge to the side to avoid.

Summon Minions (Screamer):  Once all of the Minions are dead, the Screamer Statues will summon more Minions.  Kill to avoid.

Minion Grab:  They will have an unblockable symbol before running at you.  If they manage to grab you, complete a QTE to escape.  Jump or dodge away to avoid.

Minion Claw:  They will run at you and claw while lunging.  This is their basic attack.  Jump or dodge to avoid.

Minion Torso Lunge:  Once they are just a torso, they gain a unblockable symbol lunge attack.  Jump or dodge to avoid.

Lightning Bonds (After Screamers):  One of his hands will start glowing green, and vertical lightning will appear and start to chase you.  It will last for a while, and Death will continue to attack while it does.  If it catches you, it will hold you in place, requiring a QTE to escape.  Run around or dodge to avoid.

Big Whirlwind Slash (After Screamers):  He will raise himself up slightly, and an unblockable symbol will appear.  He will then slash a circle short range in the air, then slash multiple circles getting further out as they go, and then slashing back in.  This attack will cover the whole area, and each circle is reasonably fast.  Double jump to avoid this.

Scythe Whirl Lunge (After Screamers):  He will pull his scythe back, and spin it rapidly around him, starting from the base wide, and getting higher and narrower.  When it reaches above his head, he slams it down in your direction.  Dodge away or jump to avoid the spinning, and dodge to the side to avoid the slam.

Blade Storm (Near Death):  Once Death is near death, camera control is taken from you to show him reverting to business form.  He then summons his scythe to spin around him to protect himself.  If you do not kill him now, he will regenerate back to approximately half a bar.  Attacks, projectiles, and jumping through the gaps wont work.  Use Mist to avoid the fight going on any longer.

The main thing you'll notice with this boss is that he takes very little damage from your attacks. This unfortunately means that the battle will go on for a while. The good thing is that he isn't an agressive fighter so at least you will have some breathing room. His attacks are pretty easy to avoid with simple side or backwards dodges at this point. The best way to deal damage is to whip him after dodging his straight line attacks (scythe throw and scythe launch). This lets you hit him two or three times whenever he misses you.

After you have dealt half a bar of damage Death will raise the dead of the cathedral. Four screamers will be embedded in the statues overhead (you will see them in the cut-scene) and need to be defeated to stop the swarm. To do this easily you need to clear away nearly all the screamers (leaving one or two alive to prevent more spawning). Swap to your chaos claws and use your chaos bombs on the statue screamers above. Once all four are destroyed, the remaining screamers will die and the battle with death will resume.

This process will repeat a few times during the course of the fight and will need to be dealt with the same way. The only difference when you begin fighting against death once more is that he adds a couple of attacks to his repetoire. But thanks to your new double jump ability you are ready for anything he throws at you. Keep bashing away at him, dealing with the screamers when he summons them and eventually (at nearly no health) he will return to his human form and retreat behind a rotating wall of scythe blades. Simply mist through it and you will engage him one final time. Complete the QTE and the battle is over.

Now that Death is dead (ironic, really), leave the room and head back out to the courtyard. A mech will drop down and begin engaging two horned demons (the abaddon look alikes). You can avoid this by using the grapple point where you dropped down originally.

Challenge Item: On your way out of the area where you fought death is a pile
