Level 5 – Rebooted, Resuited

Iron Man will begin this level in his pants (if you are English) or in his underwear for everyone else. The main problem here are the three laser barriers blocking the way forward. To begin with, use the Captain America's shield toss on the covered shield switch and then throw that sucker into it.

 

The barrier will rise up giving the heroes access to a room full of smashable stuff. Destroy it all until you can rebuild the pieces into an interface device. Open all three barriers on the screen and the laser barriers will go haywire.

 

Time your advance carefully to avoid being broiled alive and take control of Captain America on the other side (if you weren't already). A laser will almost instantly start buzzing your way. Run for the shield deflection panel and shatter the laser into a thousand pieces.

Minikit 01/10 – Web spot + Telekinesis + Electricity:

 

On the right side of the starting area (behind the three beam barriers) are two web spot points (use a web based hero – eg: Spider-man) and two telekinesis blocks (use a telekinesis hero – eg: Loki). Pull apart the web spots and mind crush the telekinesis blocks then build the rubble into an electrical panel. Swap to an electricity based hero (eg: Thor) to activate the panel and watch the robotic arms construct the first minikit before grabbing it.

 

Minikit 02/10 – Mind control + Telekinetic + Magnetism:

 

To the left of the last minikit, there will be a researcher behind some glass. Use a character with mind control (eg: Loki) to make him pull a level at the back of the room. This will open up a roller door next to the glass room. Head inside to use telekinesis (eg: Jean Gray) on the wheels on the floor to slot them in place. Swap to a magnetic based character (eg: Magneto) to move the metal engine on the rear wall. Once the hot rod is build, hop inside and drive it to the far left of this area to pick up the second minikit.

The smashed laser can be rebuilt into another interface panel. This allows you to take control of a small flying drone that can just slide through the horizontal gap in the glass windows. Wrangle it through there and send it to the landing panel next to the door on the right to open it up and retrieve the mark one suit for Iron Man.

 

Once Tony is all suited up, Killian will enter with some goons and then leave. How abrupt. The room entry shield switch is protected by silver lego blocks, which Iron man can now explode. Clear them away and insert the shield to open up the barrier and start battering the enemies inside. Head into the elevator at the back when they are done to rise to the next section.

 

 

Killian's friends will keep coming to play as our heroes enter the next room. Defeat them all to breathe again.

Stan Lee – Sand:

 

On the left side of this area will be a sandpit, swap to a sand based character (eg: Sandman) and turn into a trampoline to rescue Stan.

At the back of the room is a switch that produces a mobile platform from the floor. The camera will then pan towards the control panel that Iron Man can use to transport Captain America to the other side.

 

Jump off the platform at the other side as Captain America and douse the flames as you make it across to the laser controls. Smash away to turn off the lasers. Up the stairs is a larger and airier room with two levels.

Minikit 03/10 – Flight:

 

On the upper platform where the glass windows and door is, take a flying character (eg: Thor) up to grab the third minikit from outside.

 

Minikit 04/10 – Smash five Iron Man projectors + Gold barrier + Acrobatics or Flight:

 

The first one is near the purple fan chute in this area, use a flame based character (eg: Iron Man – Mark 42) to melt it away. The second is found in the area after the fan chute is blocked up. At the top of the wall jump chute, use an acrobatic character (eg: Captain America) or one with flight to reach the top. The third is to the right of the large metal door that is the exit to this area in a small chamber. After opening the large door and exploding the laser cannon, the fourth projector can be found on the right side of this same hallway. The final projector can be found in the room with Jarvis inside to the right. After the last one is burned away the minikit is yours.

To begin with, shoot the silver lego arms off the doorway to open it up. Through the now open doorway are two swinging poles ready for Captain America. Head up there and grab the switch on the wall (Yes it is very hard to notice if you aren't looking for it. Took me a good few minutes to spot).

 

This will activate the lift for Iron Man below. Now that Iron man is on the upper floor. Take him over to the fan chute and blast the silver lego bricks inside with his missiles. This will block off the fans, allowing both characters down into the other side of the room.

 

Killian's men will be wreaking havoc with Iron Man's toys so it's time to stop playing nice. Go to town on the bad guys and clear the room.

Minikit 05/10 – Green handles:

 

On an upper platform on the right side of the area, two green handles will be imbedded in a wall. Use a big character (eg: The Hulk) to rupture it and grab the minikit inside.

 

Minikit 06/10 – Web spot + Telekinesis + Acrobatics or Flight:

 

When you reach the top of the wall jump chute, you can jump further up and to the right to reach another small area. Up here will be two purple telekinesis objects and two web spots. Use both character types (eg: Spider-man and Loki) to gather all the pieces to make a jukebox. A globe will lower from the ceiling to reveal the minikit.

As Captain America, jump up the wall jump chute and out to the upper left to reach the pushable paddle on the large machine. Pushing it around will open up the front panel, allowing Iron Man to delicately… place an exploding rocket inside (wait, what?). This will disable the laser wall but unfortunately trigger the laser cannon alarm system.

 

As Captain America, run back over to the shield deflection panel and guide the lasers towards the two charge arrays to the left and right of the door. When both are fully charged, the lasers will shut off and the door will open.

 

 

Through the doorway will be a new hall with a laser cannon at the end. A shield deflection panel will be under the debris in the hall so lead with the Captain and destroy that laser. Rebuild the two switches on either side of the door and grab one each to open it up. Inside you will find the Jarvis control center.

 

Two shield switches on the back wall fire lasers across the room. One at nothing, the other at a charge panel. Head back to the shield deflection plate with the captain and aim the laser at the darkened charge panel. Jarvis will reboot and Iron Man will get upgraded.

 

The new suit can fire a flame beam, this is handy for destroying the golden door now blocking your path. Cut out the shape to reach the rear lift to the rooftop (Why is every climactic battle on a rooftop?).

Boss: Aldrich Killian And The Mandarin

 

 

Phase One: Aldrich Killian

 

 

Another rooftop and another boss battle. Killian will spawn hordes of fire shooting goons to constantly batter your heroes and once they are all defeated, Killian and the Mandarin will pop into existence once again. The Mandarin will try to mind control one of the party but this is easily broken by swapping to another member and swatting at him once. After that run up to Killian for a hit to deal the first point of damage.

Minikit 07/10 – Flying (if needed):

 

On the back left side of the area, just sitting on a pylon just waiting to be grabbed. Get it with a flying character (eg: Thor) if tricky jumps don't appeal.

 

Minikit 08/10 – Ice:

 

On the right side of the area is a puddle of water that can be frozen by an ice based character (eg: Iceman) to reveal the eighth minikit.

 

Minikit 09/10 – Telekinesis:

 

At the rear of the area is a block that can be activated by a character with telekinesis (eg: Jean Gray) that will ring a bell and open the nearby door. This will open up for the ninth minikit.

The same sequence will play out exactly the same way two more times before Killian goes to pieces.

 

Phase Two: The Mandarin

 

The Mandarin (being a little bit smarter will hop into Iron Man's hulk buster armour. Your team will then be rushed by forty enemies (no, not all at once). Keep taking down goons and dodging the Mandarin's blasts until the counter reaches zero.

Minikit 10/10 – Destroy three spotlights + Magnetism + Flight:

 

The three spotlights are on the rooftop and very obvious. Fly up there with a flyer (eg: Thor) and bend those spotlights to your magnetic will as a magnetism character (eg: Magneto). An invisible wall will block you if you try to destroy the spotlights before you engage the Mandarin.

Once it does the Mandarin will hover down lower and become vulnerable to Iron Man's missiles. Jarvis will send in some reinforcements after a few seconds and then the fun commences (this is eerily familiar to the Iron Man movie). Suits will keep arriving until the Mandarin has only a sliver of health left.

 

Once he does, use the fallen pieces of the destroyed suits to make an EMP device and activate it to bring the Mandarin crashing down. The last of his life will drain and his golden back panel will be exposed. Iron Man should know what to do here. Finish him off to win the level.
